The Port of Oakland holds environmental stewardship as one of its core organizational objectives. We are committed to developing and implementing effective and innovative environmental programs to reduce the impacts of our operations and development on the environment.

Maritime Air Quality Improvement Plan
The Port of Oakland, in partnership with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project, and maritime industry representation has engaged in a planning process for the development of a Maritime Air Quality Improvement Plan. The planning process included a series of public meetings throughout 2007 and 2008. This page is updated on a regular basis to provide you with up-to-date information about this planning effort.

Leadership
The planning process was led by four co-chairs: Omar Benjamin, Executive Director, Port of Oakland; Jack Broadbent, Executive Officer, Bay Area Air Quality Management District; Brian Beveridge, Co-Chair, West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project and Andy Garcia, Executive Vice President, GSC Logistics, Inc.
