Internship Program
The Port of Oakland’s internship program provides training grounds for interns of all levels. These interns are exposed to career areas such as, Engineering, Communications, Social Responsibility, Maritime, Human Resources, Commercial Real Estate and Aviation. Students not only gain important work experience, but also develop work habits and improve communication skills. With the collaboration of local schools and training programs, the 360 Access Program (Formerly ERDP) has been able to provide interns with job experience here at the Port. Some of the programs working with the 360 Access Program include: Oakland Unified School District’s School to Career Program, Youth Employment Partnership, UC Berkeley’s International Diploma Program and Alameda County’s Vocational Program. The 360 Access Program manages and facilitates the placement of volunteer interns. The Port provides internships for local students and international college students. Each summer, the Port hires high school and college students from Oakland to work in various divisions and departments within the Port.

Intern Testimonials
Kenny Toro
Working as an intern for the Port of Oakland, Your supervisors and other employees don’t treat you like an intern, they treat you like a regular employee, and I like that about my internship.
- Kenny Toro, Intern - Engineering Department

I love my supervisor because she takes the pressure off my assignments; she explains what to do and the purpose of doing the task. The assignment just seems so much easier.
- Noah James, Intern - Maritime Department
